Indigent Registrations
There's always room for one more...
I allow a few free seats in each of my workshops for the indigent in my
community. If you or someone you know is homeless, receiving battered
woman services, or is otherwise indigent, I will save a seat in any of my
workshops for the person for free. Indigent students may be asked to help me out
in the classroom by handing out papers to fellow students, listening for
questions for me, helping with packing it up after class, etc. If an
indigent student becomes a "regular" attendee, then I may ask him or her to hand
out flyers or be a sign spinner for me.
If it's you...
If you yourself are homeless, receiving battered woman services, or otherwise
indigent, get a hold of me and I'll let you know when my next class is. If
you are in crisis, I will do my best to help and I can offer some out-of-class
counseling for free, subject to my availability.
If you're an agency or good Samaritan...
If you are an agency or other caring person who would like to refer a person
to me who meets the above criteria, contact me to discuss their situation and
needs and I'll let you know when my next class is. If this person is in
crisis, I can offer some out-of-class counseling - how much counseling will be
subject to my availability.
Low Income Registrations
If you don't meet the above criteria for indigent registration, but still
can't afford a workshop you feel you need... call me and talk to me about your
situation. If your low-income situation is documentable, I will allow you
to sit in the workshop for free as long as you can:
- Bring me two paying students for the class you want to attend (must be
same day/time)
- Fill out a referral sheet of 10 names of people who may be interested in
one of my workshops
Why do I require you to do something for me? Because we tend to listen
better and intend to get our "money's worth" when we have paid for a class.
It's easy to dismiss the things we get for free. Plus, I want to be sure
that the workshop is valuable enough to you that you would trade something of
value for it - you'll get more out of the class that way. I don't want to
teach the masses... I want to teach the people who are prepared to use
what they've learned for their own benefit as well as the benefit of others. |
