About The Ankh Stake™

This cool ankh stake™ drawing was done by my adult son, JoS Fern AKA Joseph
Fernandes. As an artist, I've blessed the world with many beautiful and
glorious things, but he's my masterpiece. I've never made anything finer.
JoS is a cartoonist and artist and I'm very lucky I can get him to do things
like this for me. If you need a project done that's similar in tone, feel
free to contact JoS by clicking on his picture. He specializes in the
macabre or creepy. You can see more of his work at
www.josfernart.com or at Drunk Dunk
which is

What is an Ankh?
The ankh is an Egyptian hieroglyphic character that means "life". This
symbol is also known as the Egyptian Cross, the Key of Life, the Key of the
Nile, Crux Ansata (latin for "cross with a handle"... isn't that romantic?).
Some believe the Ankh can unlock the Gates of Death and is supposedly viewed
this way by the modern Rosicrucians and other hermetic orders.
What does it represent at this site?
I used the ankh here because it represents life, and lifeward choices, and
the stake end of the ankh ties in with a promotion I'm doing. The
promotion I'm referring to is my "Stake Your Inner Vampire" promotion. The
whole vampire thing is just a fun way of helping people understand what I do and
how I can help them make their lives better. And I have way too much fun
with all the goofy vampire puns!
All of us either know an emotional vampire and, at some points in our lives,
we may even have become one. In my experience, vampires come in two
flavors:
Flavor #1 - They constantly create drama around themselves. Everything
is a big, inflated deal. The offenses they perceive may be real or
imagined. They are always someone's victim and there is always some reason
they are trapped or can't do what they want to do. They suck up sympathy
like a two-headed Hoover.
Flavor #2 - They may be generally dull themselves, with boring, repetitive
lives, but they come alive around the drama of other people whether it be gossip
around the water cooler at work, the latest conflagration at the office, dishing
about reality shows, or other people's dating nightmares or bad relationships.
They may even have lots of troubled friends and spend hours on the phone
consoling their pet projects
I like to refer to these two types as, "Vampires... and the vampires who love
them." Either way, they suck up the emotional energy of the people around
them - always looking for more, more, more. Vampires everywhere look at us
hungrily and say, "I vant to suck your... emotional energy!" (ha! say *that*
with fangs!) just before they sink their teeth into us for another go.
Now don't go away mad if you see yourself in the flavors of vampires
examples. I know it can feel like I'm talking to YOU, and I can be darned
conversational (it's a curse ;o), but really those are just descriptive examples
of your garden variety emotional vampires. I can say with all honesty that
I'm not "wholier than thou" when I discuss these things and I'm not judging you
in any way.
I've gone through periods in my life where I was a vampire myself. In
fact, if you look up "tortured soul" in the dictionary, my old picture might
still be there. What good am I to you if I haven't been there myself and
come out the other side of it? The point is I'm 99% cured. I've
taken the antidote and am no longer a vampire. I recognize the signs and
when I see them I isolate myself and take more of the antidote. As is
typical... I was once a vampire, but now I hunt them ;).
Unfortunately, we can't go around staking the vampires in our lives, but we
have the power and the responsibility to stake our own inner vampires. If
you stake yours and are happy with your new life and all the possibilities
spread before you, you are in a unique position to help other vampires you know
to learn to walk in the sunshine, if you know what I mean. You know where
to send them because you will have been here yourself.
You can count on me when the stakes are high. Ha! I kill me ;) |
